Description

Cantors are much more than singers, choral directors or entertainers. Cantors are much respected, often revered communal prayer leaders for Jewish congregations.

Often, they embody the musical heritage of a particular ethnic group within the Jewish community that may be hundreds , or in some cases, thousands of years old.

Cantors often play a prominent role in Jewish education and are considered to be Jewish communal leaders and elders.
